I have been an avid reader all of my life and have several favorite authors, however, Diana Gabaldon and her Outlander series has by far become my very favorite of all time.
I can't put the book down and anxiously await each new novel. It's probably a good thing that she doesn't write as fast as I read because I would never get anything done.
I also love the series made for tv. I pray she continues this series until I'm too senile to remember what I've read and can begin again.
