The editor believes it is her good fortune here to introduce to the public a collection of short stories so simple in phraseology and construo tion and at the same time so rich in thought and fancy as to meet the requirements of the most critical teacher. Meissner, instructor of German in Dresden, for theuse of her English and American students, and are with her permission issued in this country for the first time.
