Hill Smith Delivered in Mutual Street Rink, on the 9th September, 1886 I'may also state, before closing, that it was my original intention to have published in this pamphlet a full report of the speeches of Dr. Kane and Mr. Smith, as they appeared in the Mail, in order that those who were disposed to judge of the question from the amount of evidence produced on each side should have an oppor tunity of doing so, but on calling on Mr. Clark, editor of the Orange Sentinel, with that object in view, I found that the type was dis tributed before I had arrived, and Mr. Clark, I am glad to acknow ledge, was evidently more disappointed at not being able to oblige me than I was myself, offering at the same time to give me a stereo type of all or any of the other speeches they might make while in Canada free of charge, an offer which, though I had to decline it, I beg to return my sincere thanks, and hope that the day will not be far distant when Irishmen who can be so kind and accommodating, while differing so widely as we do, will be brought into closer har mony and friendship by the removal' of those barriers that are at present so prejudicial to our mutual interest.
