But the truth is, no systematic attempt, has yet been made to trace out the early history of Britain from the archaic remains that still exist in the land. The materials for early English history are assumed to be lost from that pointwhere literature ceases to give evidence, and all information anterior to this is obtained from the continental home whence we departed from our Teutonic kinsmen.
