We've owned a copy of this book for years & recently gave it away as a gift. Fortunately, we were able to procure another, older copy with the delightful illustrations I encountered years ago!
If you're a James Herriot fan---or would like to become one---and love cats, this is a book to treasure AND to share.

Herriot at his best!
This is a great book if you are a cat lover. But if you''re not, these stories are well written and heart warming. James Herriot tells these stories as only he can. If you've read any of his other works, you already know he genuinely cares for animals, but has a special feeling for cats. One or two have sad endings, but Herriot cared for and loved these animals. A couple are side splitting funny. But all are worth reading and enjoying.

Great 4 a First Timer
I found the book to be very enjoyable, or would have if I had not already read all of James Herriot's other books. If you are just looking for a book that has the absolute sweetest stories about cats and their crazy antics, and do not plan to read any of his regular books such as "All Creatures Great and Small" and the like, then this is the book for you. But for those who have or will read his other books, don't bother it is only a repeat of the cat stories. Those of you who have not experienced a James Herriot story are missing out especially if you love animals like I do or are interested in the procedures and drugs used on animals for different ailments back in 1930s Scotland by a country vet.
