Good+ 1169379141. 8vo 8"-9" tall; 808 pages; 1865 Derby and Miller, New York. 1st edition. Soundly bound in full sheep covered boards with black leather title label to spine. Illustrated with a tissue guarded steel engraved frontis portrait along with an engraved plate showing Lincoln's birth home and a number of lithographed plates. Several pages of publisher ads at rear. Contents are bright and clean with only a few pages showing a superficial stain or bit of spotting. A large piece of leather missing from the crown of the spine panel, about 1/2 of the top compartment measuring approximately 1 x 1 inch. Leather over the rear joint is splitting but the joint/hinge remains sound; endpages complete and sound. Prior ownership penned to the top edge of the first blank endpage. Some mild worming predation to the leather of the cover board. With regard to the preservation and cleanliness of the text block, contents and of the binding materials this copy in much better condition than usually seen. G++ to VG-thus
