David rescues her and they quickly become friends. As they spend more time together, they begin to fall in love. However, Ruth is engaged to a wealthy man named Jameson, who is not happy about her spending time with David. David must navigate his feelings for Ruth and the challenges that come with their different social classes. Along the way, David must also confront his past and come to terms with the truth about his family. The Harvester is a heartwarming story about love, nature, and the power of the human spirit. As the man drew the covers over him, the dog's nose began making an opening, and a little later he quietly walked into the room. The Harvester rested, facing the lake. The dog sniffed at his shoulder, but the man was rigid. Then the click of nails could be heard on the floor as Belshazzar went to the opposite side. At his accustomed place he paused and set one foot on the bed. There was not a sound, so he lifted the other. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. A man of high ideals lives in the woods cultivating herbs for medicine... he has a vision of the woman of his dreams and sets out to find her. Written 100 years ago it is witty and full of delightful details and insights into life in the early 1900's. I re-read it often and keep a spare copy to loan to others!
