To Let is a novel by the English author John Galsworthy, published in 1921 as the final installment in his trilogy, The Forsyte Saga. The novel follows the lives of the Forsyte family, a wealthy and influential clan in early 20th-century England, as they navigate the changing social and political landscape of their time.At the heart of the story is the relationship between the young architect Philip Bosinney and the beautiful Irene Heron, who is unhappily married to Soames Forsyte. As their love affair unfolds, it threatens to tear apart the Forsyte family and expose the hidden tensions and conflicts that lie beneath their polished veneer. As the novel progresses, Galsworthy explores themes of love, marriage, class, and social change, painting a vivid portrait of a society in transition. Through his nuanced and sympathetic portrayal of the Forsyte family, he captures the complexities and contradictions of human nature, and offers a powerful commentary on the forces that shape our lives. To Let is a masterful work of fiction, rich in character and detail, and a fitting conclusion to one of the greatest literary achievements of the 20th century.Sipping weak tea with lemon in it, Jolyon gazed through the leaves of the old oak-tree at that view which had appeared to him desirable for thirty-two years. The tree beneath which he sat seemed not a day older! So young, the little leaves of brownish gold; so old, the whitey-grey-green of its thick rough trunk, A tree of memories, which would live on hundreds of years yet, unless some barbarian cut it down--would see old England out at the pace things were going! This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Soames' daughter and Irene's son are in love. It looks like the sins of the past will spoil their romance. The most thrilling of the series, intruducing the reader to the next generation. Fleur is an absolute delight to read. She is everything a lead girl should be. Jon needs to grow a spine which will annoy readers. All in all this was an excellent well written book.
