An exciting introduction to astronomy, the fourth edition of this book uses recent discoveries and stunning photography to inspire non-science majors about the Universe. Written by two highly experienced and engaging instructors, each chapter has been fully updated, with more than 200 new images throughout, including recent images from space missions and the world's best observatories. You'll never look at the stars the same way again. Comprehensive and authoritative. A wonderful accompaniment to Alex Filippenko's Teaching Company course. AAA+++

Great Introduction to Astronomy!
This book is a great introduction to astronomy - a very interesting read! It's full of pictures and visuals to aid your understanding of ideas and concepts. However, the newer (3rd) edition might be better because it's been updated, and is more organized. The only difference I see is that it has more descriptive and interesting section headings. Also, the 3rd edition has true/false, multiple choice, and fill in the blank practice test questions after each section, while the 2nd one doesn't. If you just want to read about astronomy, I'd definitely recommend this book!
