Es por este motivo, que no podemos tratar el tema de la brujer�a como una unidad; cada lugar tiene sus peculiaridades y existen diferencias muy significativas, tanto en la forma de ver el fen�meno social como en su desenlace, aunque todo lleve el mismo nombre de "caza de brujas".Para los demon�logos como Bodin, Del Rio, De Lancre y otros coet�neos de los siglos XVI y XVII, la brujer�a estaba causada por la agitaci�n del diablo en el mundo, y las brujas participaban en un culto secreto que la Iglesia deb�a destruir y acabar de raiz junto con sus poderes mal�ficos.Si las brujas eran el arma que utilizaba el diablo para sembrar el caos y la destrucci�n, l�gico era pensar que elimin�ndolas se acabar�an tambi�n todas sus desgracias. Y es que, en esa �poca, los males eran muchos, y acusar al sector social m�s bajo fue lo m�s sencillo para encontrar una causa como respuesta a la devastaci�n de las tormentas, al granizo que asolaba las cosechas, a las muertes del ganado, a los fallecimientos de mujeres durante los partos, a fiebres y enfermedad de origen desconocido... la m�nima duda, el m�s �nfimo acto o cualquier evento negativo se le dio por origen la mano de "la bruja".
