Seller's Description:
New. 134 p. Includes: illustrations, diagrams, maps, index. Richard Dungan was an interesting man. He was married three or four times, first in Dublin, Ireland about 1560. He eldest son was Thomas Dungan, or Dongan who was likely educated in a grammar school, possibly at nearby St. Paul's Cathedral. The meager evidence suggests that he became a Merchant's 'Factor' in the Netherlands, a country fighting to free itself from Spain. He also married often. but we only know the name of his last wife, a Dutch woman named Mary [Marji in Dutch], by whom he had two sons, William [the perfumer] and John [a Civil War captain]. Richard died at his home in the Strand of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, survived by his (fourth? ) wife and his two grandsons.
