Seller's Description:
Fine. No Jacket-Wraps. 8vo-over 7¾"-9¾" tall. 224pp/illus. The little-known history of Toussaint Louverture's overthrow of the Spanish armies of Haiti and the emancipation of the slaves in 1804 with their own constitution modelled on the French republic. Sadly Napoleon overthrew Louverture and he died in 1803 in Fort Joux, near Besancon in France, fed on just flour and desperate for a cup of coffee. Clean.
