An 'easy' book to dip into, with plenty of meaningful quotations from all sorts of people to make the reader reflect on issues, which affect us all and most people think about every now and then.
The blurb on the back cover opens with this: ' In all the time you spent at school, you probably never learned the really useful things - the things you actually wanted to know. For example: did you learn what your purpose in life was?' Can something like that really be taught at school? Philosophers have been asking that question since the dawn of civiisation! But that is a minor point. The book contains some excellent chapters on many subjects which could be useful starting points for teachers wishing to initiate discussions on chosen themes, as they could pick and choose a topic and adapt the subject matter to suit the age, background and interests of their students.
In general, there is something for everyone in this book, as it addresses many issues in a manner reminiscent of talks and discussions one listens to on the radio, particularly in bed, so it would make interesting bedtime reading as well.
