Wonderful Story
The Farm at Lough Gur is actually a story about my Irish lines of family, the O'Briens and the McCarthys. The story, even without the family connection, is a wonderful day to day account of Ireland, especially for Catholics, during the time period. Everything from chores to Church is well told, easy to read and draws a great mental picture for the reader. My husband and I traveled to the lough and the farm and were able to walk the paths and see the countryside in person, which was exactly like Sissy had described in the book.
I'm currently searching out copiesof this book for my children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews as part of our family history. With so many Irish in this country the book serves as a great history helping connect us all with our Irish roots.
