A good book on what is a Christian. Empowering and helpful. Good for those who just have questions or just proclaimed the faith, and for those who have been a Christian for a while!

Life changing words from a disciple of Christ. Henri captures the essence of what is important in life, to be loved and to love. Love lasts while life does not.

Life of the beloved
The book puts forward some interesting points, but for myself it did not go into defending the person against the secular world. Or how to use the spiritual living against the secular world.

Clear, Concise, Sequential
I have read and enjoyed Henri J. M. Nouwen's writing over the years, and I was not disappointed by his "Life of the Beloved," a clear, concise and sequential exposition of what spirituality meant to him. In his earlier works, I experienced a somberness in the author. Such is not present in this or in his last book, "Adam," the latter recounting his experience with a severely handicapped young man who profoundly influenced Nouwen. Two good reads!

GREAT READ
This is a great read. Unlike any book I've ready this year.
