This is one of the best written books I've ever read. It's a must for all.

When I was in fourth grade, our teacher put aside 30 min a day when she read to us. This was one of the books she read. I still remember how the whole class cried(even Mrs. Lyman) when the dogs sacrificed all to save their master. I have raised my children, and now babysit 4 wonderful little girls, guess what we're reading! There's nothing quite like the memory a good book brings, and this is one of the best!

Look out Ol' Yeller!
A book that rivals Ol' Yeller for its impact on the reader, Where the Red Fern Grows is a touching story about a boy who works hard to save money for two coon hounds. But, the work isn't finished as he trains and prepares the dogs for hunting, which further strengthens the bond among the trio and sets up the climatic moment. It is a well-told tale that will last through the generations. This is an enjoyable read for kids of virtually all ages (5th grade and up will probably have an easier time reading it). Highly recommended.
