As a BN student, the med/surg component of our curriculum is the "meat & potatoes" of our education. The clinical companion helps me to pinpoint the specific etiology, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, treatment options, and nursing care implications for hundreds of disorders, and also gives reference to treatments and procedures. The book is less than 1/4 of the size and weight of my huge med/surg text, so it's easy to carry it to and from class and clinical settings. Even though I bought the 2004 edition, it still has all the relevant and pertinent information needed after comparing it with the 2007 edition that my friend bought (and spend 4x as much on). I highly recommend this book for anyone in nursing - whether you are just starting your education or you are a seasoned nurse. It is a terrific reference book. I won't be letting go of this one.
