A grand collection of material
What I was looking for was a book I could use with late-teen through senior adult groups and individuals. This is a gold mine of useful material for all of them. Like Wheelock''s well-known book, this one leans on Ovid, a fascinating but often overlooked author. It contains many stories with vocabulary, a two-way dictionary, and supplemental explanations of Indo-European languages and their relation to Latin. There are the usual paradigms, plus articles on the calendar, the divinities, Roman chronology, and a brief but very handy outline of scansion.
There are numerous short stories from mythology and pleasing B/W sketches. Truly a resource for many students, and a good introduction to many aspects of Latin and of Roman culture. Heartily recommended as a textbook plus!
