I thought this was an extremely interesting book, it made me research this life and religion even more. I loved the jump between past and present, and the similarities are mind boggling. Great book, long, but keeps you interested

Polygamy still lives
David Ebershoff has crafted a story that moves from the past to present day about the Mormon Church and its continuing battle with polygamy. The present day story is a murder mystery about a woman who is accused of murdering her husband. She just happens to be his 19th wife. The historical part deals with the true life 19th wife of Brigham Young, Ann Eliza Young, who sued him for divorce in the latter 1800's. Nicely intertwined, I enjoyed the history far more than the present day story due to the distracting use of the f-word in practically every sentence. Why this obviously educated author chose to use this word repeatedly is beyond me- especially because I know he had a vast number of other words to choose from as is evidenced by the rest of the story. Despite this complaint, I did enjoy this novel and found it hard to put down.
