Cars are convenient; planes are fast; buses are cheap; but not one of these conveyances holds a candle to a train--and Donald Crews proves it in this "color concept book of outstanding quality" (Boston Globe). The train moves slowly at first, then it picks up speed, zooming across the page in a majestic blur of color, speed, and sound. Full color.

Don't be put off by the simple text and illustrations; this is a book that my 2-year-old can now sit and "read" by himself and show off his expertise. The pictures have a simple beauty and the text can become as dramatic as you make it. Once you've read this book 100 times (and you will), next time you see a train go by you can enjoy naming the different types of cars with your child and imagining where they are headed.

For train lovers
This is a simple book about a freight train going across the country, through a tunnel, going fast, in the night and the day, etc. Colors and counting concepts, for very young learners can be used while reading this fun book. My grandson at 2 years old picked it out at the library and loved it so much I bought one for him in the board book form.
