Sensible and profound
Many people are troubled by the feeling that religion requires checking their critical brain at the door. James Mackey is one of the most profound and sensible thinkers in the philosophy of religion, and his reading of the New Testament as myth, in the non-disparaging sense of the word, makes it possible to read and rediscover the Jesus story with respect for the sources, for the religious experience of the world, and for critical thinking. For me, a seminal book, useful to anyone interested in the broad subject of myth as well as Christology and historical Jesus studies.
