Not the Tresures you're thinking of!
If you are familiar with Pat MacLachlan's most famous books, the Sarah, Plain and Tall series, then you are familiar with the Aunts, AKA the Unclaimed Tresures. Don't be fooled by the title: Although this book contains neighborly, eccentric aunts who are also known as the Unclaimed Treasures, they are not our beloved sisters from Maine.
This is a sweet story of a twin brother and sister, finding your niche, growing up, and falling in love . . . true love. As one of MacLachlan's earliest novels, it lacks some of the polish she has since acquired. Nevertheless, readers will find the same charming, complex characters and flowing text.
It does have some references to sex and babies, but nothing inappropriate for middle readers.
The thing I liked best about this story was the tender relationship between the brother and sister in all its intricacies. It was refreshing to read about siblings who were very different, but still LIKE each other. Amazing!
An enjoyable read, but not her best work.
