"This first novel is about an abandoned 'family, ' four children ages 6 to 13. . . . With $11 and change, little adult help and a great deal of adult hindrance, the four make their way from Rhode Island to Connecticut on the strength of courage, resourcefulness, good camping instincts and the sheer will to stay together and find a home . . . This is a glowing book . . . An enthralling journey to a gratifying end."--"New York Times Book Review."

I first read this book when I was about ... 10 years old. Now I am 24 and still love it as much now as I did then if not more. It is about 4 children and their journey to stay together and find a home. It seems the whole world is against them and they struggle everyday but they stick together and realize how important family is. It is a great book with life lessons and self revelations. I would recommend this book to kids and adults of all ages.
