Good Summary of Christian Approaches to Literature
Cary's book is very useful for anyone interested in Christian approaches to literature, which are not singular. The brevity of the book is unfortunate; summaries of books only touch on one or two ideas from each. But in the space of 112 pages Cary includes dense information, and provides a good starting point for further reading. The notes and citations make for a heady bibliography. One other unfortunate aspect: it is written in 1975. I would like to read an updated edition covering the last 35 years. Still, seeing that 20th century literature is still relevant, still influential, so are many of the criticisms.
