The main focus of this volume is on ethnography as a viable mode of inquiry into organizations. This relatively new qualitative paradigm of inquiry is then applied to Indian R&D settings. After an introduction to the basics of ethnographic research, the authors go on to examine critically its advantages and disadvantages. Using an ethnographic study the authors conducted, they then describe the various aspects involved in successfully applying ethnographic research methods in the study of a public-sector R&D team in India.
