The central issue of mens control over women and children in families, and the use of physical force to implement such control, is stressed. Among the topics discussed are: assessment of the violent man, from intake through continued evaluation; legal obligations to victims; cognitive and behavioural-based treatment procedures; and practical issues involved in conducting intervention with couples.
