Clear and engaging writing style.
Werlin draws the reader right from the onset in her introduction of the protagonist/narrator David Yaffe who offers tidbits of his past all the while refusing to go into details about why he is a "killer" before launching into the story of his cousin Lily. Throughout the novel we are treated to a balance of David dealing with his evolving feelings of guilt over his past and his dealings with a cousin who is openly antagonistic with whom he has more in common than he thinks...
