This third book in The Gunslinger series is a great read by itself. Of course it's best to read the whole series.

The Dark Tower 3: The Waste Lands
A wonderful tale, better than the last. The rich character development and dangers that they encounter at every turn makes this book a fast and joyful read. However, the train with his obsession of riddles can be a bit too much.
