CORBA is the oldest standard, and its biggest competitor in the mid-to-late-1990s is Microsoft whose DCOM (Distributed Computing Project Object Model) is found in ActiveX. This text guides IT professionals, project managers, software developers, network administrators and general programmers from planning and training for a distributed computing project, through to completing both small and large CORBA-based applications.
