Miss Katie?s Rosewood
Wrote by Michael Phillips
Bethany House Publishers
Miss Katie's Rosewood is the best story I have read as it is full of danger and suspense. It also gives examples of how the African Americans were treated by everyone including KKK, who plans to burn down the Rosewood plantation, as a warning to anyone who allows slaves to become equals to white folks. I cried as I read the story that Mayme and Katie's family faced due to uncaring people who would not change their views that had been raised to think, and their hatred they showed to all.
The best part of the story is when one lonely person sits out to try to be the leading light, for the residents of Rosewood. To save their lives as well as their own, and to save Rosewood. It truly shows how even one person can change things if they only sat their minds to do it.
It is a great read, as an historical novel, showing the aftermath of a destructive civil war that turned what peace some people thought they had into extreme life threatening hostility. I have never read any of Michael Phillips but after reading this novel, I plan on buying the others as well as recommending them to my friends everywhere.
I recommend this book as well as the others in the series to all who lives Historical Novel.
