I liked this story because it was really two stories; one set in the 18th century aboard a pirate ship, and the other one set in the present, about marine archeologists and treasure hunters. I found both stories interesting, but the pirate story was more exciting. The author also tied the two together and even wrote them in such a way that it was almost like similar things were happening to the main characters in both stories. It was ultimately about deciding what really matters in life, riches or people.
