I used this book last year for my biology science requirement at UMass Amherst. As my knowledge of science was limited to knowing land from water, this was a great informative book. The graphics, language is easy to read and understand. Information is easy to find. Chapter Questions and test questions were on my professor's exams also. Details were not bogged down in language, rather explanations were clear, directed and the accompanying graphics explained complicated theory. This book along with the text book works well together and has given me a greater understanding of oceanography. The set would encourage any novice interested to desire to learn more about oceanography.
