I purchased this book for my nieces, ages 2 and 5, when their great-grandmother died. Their "Grandma" had lived with them and cared for them all their lives, so the grief they felt at her passing was deep and very real. The first half of the book was oriented to explaining Christian doctrine about why we die and where we go when we die. I thought it probably went into too much detail for a 2 or 5 year old, but might be helpful in the future. The second half of the book explained heaven in children's terms. After all, when we tell kids that our loved one has gone to heaven, they often wonder why they can't be there now, too, and "what is so good about heaven anyway, if I can't be there?" I decided to give this book because of this latter part. Any book on grief that is geared for children needs to be readable in small chunks because of the various emotional needs and situations of the children. I think this book can be read in small pieces and still be comforting and helpful.
