Essays by the romantic critic Stephen Prickett, Roderick McGillis and the 19th century children's literature authority Gillian Avery, further explore these areas. C.S.Lewis's relationship to MacDonald's writing is discussed by Catherine Durie, and David Robb, the well-known Scottish critic, adds an essay on MacDonald's Scottish novels.
