I saw the movie version of this book before I read the book. The book is much better and I am qualified to write this last review because I , too, am a paranoid schizophrenic. I have been disabled for well over 30 years but only diagnosed since 1980. It is good that the book was written to help people understand the affliction and that ps strikes anyone at anytime. Fortunately, I am in remission but it wasn't easy working and being married without knowing what was going on with my head. The movie fictionalizes the ps but it does a good job of what the person goes through. The book successfully describes Nash's life. Even though I am not a Nobel prize winning mathematician I did work as a professional organic chemist and after diagnosis donated 131 pints of whole blood. So disabled does not mean unable. Hopefully the great acting job in the movie should inform everyone about the torture the person goes through and how his or her loved ones suffer right along with him or her.
