This tale has all the great trademarks we've come to expect from Ms. Gardner: Terrific plotting and structure, shocking revelations, head-spinning chapter endings, thrilling action, "real" characters,
and dynamic storytelling.
Jason Jones comes home one night to discover his young wife, Sandra, missing. Their four-year-old daughter, Ree, asleep safe and sound in her own bed. He waits three hours before calling 911.
He becomes a suspect. The husband always does.
The neighbor down the street, a registered sex offender, quickly comes under scrutiny also.
