Seller's Description:
Very Good in Good Plus jacket. 4to. HEAVY. 308 pages, 174 colour and 129 b/w photos, some 250 drawings, appendix, bibliography, indexes to Latin and to English names. Blue cloth boards, flecked in white in places by the spine and lower edges (probably from jacket blind side), in rubbed and lightly edge-worn dust-jacket. The encyclopaedia is based on the original Dutch publication. This second volume gives wide coverage to the Psittaciformes (Parrot family) and all the known species have been dealt with in sufficient detail to make identification possible. All recognised subspecies have been listed. Many of the most popular species of parrots originate in Australia and Mr J Forshaw has contributed all the material on these. Also included in this volume are the Cuculiformes (Cuckoos and Touracous), Strigiformes (Owls), Caprimulgiformes (Night-ars), and Apodiformes (Hummingbirds and Swifts).
