The book is devided into three parts. Part 1: Tracy Whitney, a naive young women is suckered into pleading guilty to a crime she did not commit, and is sentened to 15 years in prison. Things happen, good and bad, and she is pardoned for rescuing the wardens young daughter from drowning. She goes about paying back those that destroyed the naive girl. Part 2: Tracy tries to go straight, but every time she gets a job something goes wrong, and with her record, she is fired. Again, she is suckered--this time into committing a crime--a burglary --because she desperately needs the money. She pulls it off only to be double crossed. She figures out the deception and turns the tables on her boss, and gets away with the $25,000 she was originally promised. Part 3: She moves to europe, where no one knows her, and tries to start a new life. She is a beautiful, young, and intelligent woman, who by this time is no longer naive. She falls in with Gunter Hartog, an aristocratic looking elderly man, who has all the right connections. He is the master planning of all her future crimes. She has become facinated with outwitting her opponents, and the police. Tracy meets up with Jeff Stevens, whom she has run into in the past-a con artist for which she has no liking-and proceeds to outwit him on several "jobs". Like all of his books, this book is easy reading, full of surprises, and fun to read. Enjoy it, as I did.

for the wit and fun
I've read most of Sidney Sheldon's books and by far, this is my favorite. Generally, I love the way he tells his stories but If Tomorrow Comes is exceptional! I simply couldn't put the book down. Loved the wit, the mind games, and despite what Tracy Whitman does and goes through, its all unbelievable fun!
