The hotly debated report from the frontlines of mounting backlash against multinational corporations. A national bestseller, No Logo took Canadians by storm when it was published last year in hardcover. Equal parts cultural analysis, political manifesto, mall-rat memoir, and journalistic expos???, it is the first book to uncover a betrayal of the central promises of the information age: choice, interactivity, and increased freedom. No Logo takes apart our packaged and branded world and puts the pieces into clear pop-historical and economic perspective. Naomi Klein tracks the resistance and self-determination mounting in the face of our new branded world and explains why some of the most revered brands in the world are finding themselves on the wrong end of a bottle of spray paint, a computer hack, or an international anti-corporate campaign.

Making a Name for Herself
Naomi Klein, a social analyst and teacher for the rest of us, is a national resource we are lucky to have. This 1999 volume is an early example from the prolific writer whose more recent works demonstrate the span of her interests, research skills, and intelligence. No Logo provides for us a description of the advanced techniques of the modern marketing industry and their manipulation of society's view of themselves and of the world as an identified with Brand Names. In the light of recent and not-so-recent events this resource becomes more valuable every day. No Logo and Klein's newer topics form a coherent and rational understanding of what the media is up to and why.
