Michael Malone has carved out a location--North Carolina--and created an academic world (Duke University in drag as Cavendish College) that resonates, especially for English majors and their followers. The plot--a loose one that focuses on several fairly hilarious set pieces--revolves around a young (handsome, talented, etc.) professor who gets involved with a plot to pass off a copy of a play he has written as a work by Sir Walter Raleigh. Great travel and beach read.
