Der auf diesem Gebiet arbeitende Forscher sollte m�glichst wenig auf andere Publicationen verwiesen werden, vielmehr Alles auf die Entwicklung und die einzelnen Verh�ltnisse der Stadt Bez�gliche hier beisammen finden. Daraus ergab sich schon von selbst, da� auch Urkunden, die bereits in guten Drucken vorlegen, wenn sie fur die Geschichte Stra�burgs non irgendwie erheblicher Bedeutung waren. Aufgenommen werden mu�ten, wenn nicht in eatenso, so doch wenigstens im Regest. Da nun gute �ltere Drucke selten waren und selbst bei ihnen mit der modernen Editionsmethode immer noch Etwas zu leisten �brig blieb, so empfahl es sich nicht blos der Vollst�ndigkeit wegen.
