Bought quite a few copies for relatives and friends. My Uncle was the 3rd American prisoner taken and put into Stalag Luft III. He never talked about it much, but, years later, when he attended a convention in Miami, FL, a waiter recognized him, and I'm told that they hugged and cried because they were both on this German Death March together. Apparently, the guard (who immigrated to the US and settled in Miami FL, working as a waiter) carried Uncle Jim the last 10+ miles because Jim was unable to walk. The march was realistically portrayed, according to one of my cousins. Book was in wonderful condition, and I'm so glad I found it (my Uncle was purported to be Jr. Jones).
