Female Heroine matures Gracefully without Surgery!
Be sure to read the 1st two books of this trilogy (Daugher of the Empire & Servant of the Empire) before reading this one. This final tale in the trilogy is not so much a stand-alone book as a continuation of the ongoing story. The characters are well-developed by this point in the story, yet there are still plenty of unanticipated twists and the outcome is pleasing. And, I like the idea of a strong, intelligent female as the main character. With maturity, Mara knows the worth of humanity and fights for human rights. It speaks volumes of man's inhumanity to man. Although it's not philisophically deep, it's a good reminder for each of us to continually examine how we treat others and how we can continue to change for the better. Our realm of influence may not be very large, but we can make a difference within that realm.
