A North Dakota fella
I read this collection of short stories when it first came out and was surprised by the variety
of them. I met Louis Lamour at the independence Center Dalton Books in the early 80s.
I brought along one of the two volumes of the history of Williams County, North Dakota
that he had introduced and signed. As I approached he immediately recognized the tomb and said he hadn't thought of it in years. He wrote To Millie my mother who was born
in North Dakota like Lamour dd There are other current collections of posthumous short stories
written by Lamour. And I found them to be as interesting and varied as Yondering. One
of the quinessential qualities of Lamour is his adventuresome spirit and eagerness to explore
other cultures.
