Bestselling author Cathy Kelly makes her eagerly awaited U.S. debut with a novel that speaks to the hopes, dreams, and desires of women everywhere. Leonie, Emma, and Hannah are three women at a critical turning point in their lives-waiting for the final puzzle piece to fall into place, that one elusive thing that will leave them fulfilled. They meet on a holiday in Egypt and find themselves changing in completely unexpected ways. For Leonie, a forty-something divorced mother of three, taking a vacation she can't really afford could be her last chance to find true love. For Emma, newly married, it means escaping the yoke of her domineering parents. But Hannah, an indepen-dent career woman involved with a younger lover, doesn't believe love can buy happiness. Meeting once a month despite the distance between their homes, the bond among these new friends deepens and we come to love Leonie, Emma, and Hannah as old friends. As each woman builds a life-a love, a family, a career-she learns there is worth and support for each dream, and with friends like these life blossoms in rich and often surprising ways. Someone Like You is a celebration of all life has to offer, and firmly establishes Cathy Kelly as a compelling and captivating new voice in contemporary women's fiction.

Emma. Hannah and Leonie meet on an Egyptian cruise and find the bonds of true friendship that will last long after the ship docks. After everyone goes back to their real lives, they stay in touch. Although each life is different, Cathy Kelly finds innovative ways to blend their stories. I enjoyed this book and liked the characters. This was long book, but in a good way. In the way that really good novels keep your interest and you can imagine being friends with the people that live within the pages.
Emma has been under her father?s control for far too long. Despite being happily married, she?s feels forced to obey her dad?s every command, even though all she is really interested in is getting pregnant ? she?s married for a few years, but so far, no luck.
Hannah had been in a long-term relationship with Harry for years, when he suddenly decides he wants out and leaves her. Hannah decided to concentrate on herself and slims down, tones up and begins to concentrate on her career, all the time fighting insecurities she?s felt ever since her childhood because of her father?s alcoholism and her mother?s acceptance.
Leonie is a plus-sized beauty that wears too much makeup and has been divorced from her husband for ten years. She has three kids ? twin teenage daughters and an almost-grown son and they keep her plenty busy, but Leonie has always hoped that true love would find its way into her heart.
Despite the friend?s different stations in life, Cathy Kelly brings them together to celebrate their victories, drown their sorrows and stand behind each other when times get tough. I appreciated the author?s attention to detail without drowning the reader in insignificant details this was an enjoyable read and I will definitely be reading more of her books in the future.
