Broad coverage of the facts, an interesting writing style, and compelling delivery of current events make "The American System of Criminal Justice" one of the best texts available for an in-depth introduction to the American criminal justice system.

While packed with lots of information, it wasn't organized very well, I found it hard to find things that I was specifically looking for. The textbook Criminology was much better.

A truly great guide
Puts criminal justice and related issues in plain view for everybody to see. Makes a great handbook for foreign law professionals and anybody interested in this otherwise abstruse subject. Extremely useful for translators who do not usually work in a common law environment.
