Excerpt from Bibliotheca Therapeutica, or Bibliography of Therapeutics, Chiefly in Reference to Articles of the Materia Medica, Vol. 2: With Numerous Critical, Historical, and Therapeutical Annotations, and an Appendix Containing the Bibliography of British Mineral Waters Another point in connection with the Index of Authors requires a word of explanation, viz. The omission of capitals to German nouns. It having been decided, in this index, to exclude all capi tals excepting to proper names, this rule has been applied to German substantives, contrary to the generally received custom; and I may add that this innovation (for such it is) has not been adopted without consultation with those well versed in German literature. In conclusion, I desire to record my grateful acknowledgments to those friends who have rendered me essential service in seeing the sheets of this volume through the press; they are specially due to Mr. J. A. Broun, and his family, to Mr. B. R. Wheatley, the Resident Librarian Of the Royal Medical and Chirurgical Society and to my nephew, Mr. Edward E. Nicholson, of Worcester College, Oxford. I would also tender my best thanks to Dr. John Macpherson for numerous valuable notes relating to works on the various Mineral Waters of Great Britain.
