This book is about the realities and some of the causes of why Africa in such economic and social turmoil then (almost 20 years ago now) and still is today. The author points out with great detail what he has observed in countless hours of travel and many scenarios. He worked for a newspaper and was assigned there for a few years. The things he describes are so much worse than almost anything that happens in the USA it is hard to imagine. And yet because he dares to tell the truth and not sugarcoat it, he is labeled by many as a sort of Uncle Tom.
