Biography at its best!
Biographies are not created equal and often fail to convey a real sense of what made the person what they became - and thus why they shaped history or why their lives are worth telling others about. Not so with this book! The format is only a slight impediment to the book's success in drawing the reader into the the times and environs of the Great Reformer and how events and his own journey with God shaped the dawn of a new period in the history of the world. For anyone wanting insight into the second most influential period of history and how one man could be so powerfully influential in affairs and destinies with which he had no connection, this book is essential. For those that are interested in tracing the foundations or religious thought and their direct influence to modern man's ideals of freedom and self government, this book is indispensable. For the person observing over the course of the Church's history just what had been the cause of its demise prior to the Reformation and how this is crucial to understanding man's relationship with God, this book is imperative. I highly recommend it for history, inspiration, perspective, and as an example in every man's search for his place among men and before God. Enjoy!
