I have this weird little OCD thing about reading a book; to whit, once I start, I have to finish it. Never have I loathed that little quirk than while reading this one. The plot was childish and the action regarding said plot was pathetic. By the 2nd chapter, I was marvelling at the number of people who must have read that book and thought, "Gee, this is great, We should publish it." The 'hero,' never really susses out any of the clues. Every once in a while, a mysterious stranger materializes out of nowhere with critical information, then just disappears. As for the villains, not the sharpest arrows in the quiver. In each of the four formulaic encounters with our pathetic excuse for a hero, they are bested handily...falling for a ruse my 9 year old nephew could see through--the same ploy, 4 times. By the end, I felt I deserved an apology and possibly money. When you head down the :D: row at the bookstore, walk briskly with eyes forward, and, for the love of God, if you get it as a gift, use it to beat the giver senseless...
